MARSHALL SCHOOL PTA

August 2016

Dear Marshall Families,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome both new and returning families to Marshall Elementary School for the 2016-2017 school year! We hope that everyone had a wonderful and relaxing summer. We can’t wait for you to see all of the exciting and engaging improvements the staff has made to our school. Our children will skip down hallways designed to encourage movement, create art in the newly transformed art studio, and access not only more books in the library but also new, unique learning stations developed to encourage reading, writing, creativity, and exploration.

Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) played a vital part in these improvements and many more! You may have seen teams of parents working on the school grounds this summer planting flowers and caring for our Learning Garden. A group of parents has worked to improve our parent communications, others have been preparing for the first day of school, and still others are busy identifying programs for school assemblies. We are an active part of the school community and we need you to make it even better.

Our PTA welcomes parents, teachers, grandparents, guardians, school staff, and others in the community who want to improve the educational lives of our children. Here is how you can help:

  •  Join the PTA! Become a member and show your kids how much you value their education. Your time and talents expand the resources available to our teachers and further enrich the learning environment.
  • Participate in a PTA sponsored event, program or fundraiser. At Marshall, your PTA is involved in so much. Whether you’d like to volunteer during your child’s library or art class, help decorate the hallways with our children’s creations for the Art & Music Festival, or help organize the Spring Fundraiser, you make a difference!
  • Stay informed by visiting http://www.marshalljefferson.org and checking your child’s backpack.

Please come learn more on the first day of school. After your children are settled in their classrooms, we invite you to join us   for the First Day Coffee on Tuesday, September 6, from 9:00 – 9:40 am. You will have an opportunity to meet other  parents, learn about upcoming events, and discover all the ways you could volunteer at Marshall this year.

Back to school is an exciting time for students, staff, and parents alike. Many opportunities lie ahead and we are eager to get started. Marshall is a vibrant, inclusive community that seeks educational success for every child. The effort to meet each child’s needs for growth—socially, emotionally, and academically—is ongoing and intentional. We look forward to working with you and our teachers to make every child’s potential a reality.

Warm Regards,

Toshie Davis and Leslie Kerner
